Little backstory. As amazing as it sounds raided for the first time in WoW as i have never played WoW before WoD.
But family talked me into playing it since i quit my other MMORPG. Where i did raid. And now ill get to the point since you probably don't care about the above. I got to raid the first time and was told to download DBM (Deadly Boss Mod).
In this article: download, adding a project tracking time, adding time manually, unsynced entries editing, drag and drop, settings, idle detection, Pomodoro timer, default project, proxy settings, autotracker, reminders, keyboard shortcuts. Toggl Desktop for Mac is a native OSX application, that can be installed on your computer.

How is this even allowed, why does Blizzard let people use this thing? Like it might as well play the game for you. Forget knowing the fight this thing tells you everything you need to do. Like come on really? Are WoW raiders that bad that they need a program to tell them every little mechanic in a raid?
- Port B is an 8-bit bi-directional I/O port with internal pull-up resistors (selected for each bit). The Port B output buffers have symmetrical drive characteristics with both high sink and source capability. As inputs, Port B pins that are externally pulled low will source current if the pull-up resistors are activated.
- Download Install. Feb 27, 2017. Owner: Lenja. Before the DBM timer runs out. This very simple addon consists only of about 20 lines of code and thus will probably never end up abandoned because it can be updated so easily by anyone. Much more accurate then all the other boss pull addons! To post a comment, please.
High end raiding are designed with so small margin for error that even 1 second late could lead to a wipe. Main mechanics are so complex that with the help of DBM, only a very small portion of players could raid mythic. Once you have done actual raiding (read: not LFR) you will find yourself in need of DBM to be a serious raider. Idk what other type of games that you have 'raided' before but I assure you none of them come even close to the level of complexity of WoW raiding. Even Rift also has a boss mod.
I have played several other MMORPGs and most of their 'raid' consist of incompetent P2W players who outgear content with their +15 Legendary Enchanted Sword of One-Shot and +100 all stats store-exclusive costumes. Pre-DBM, there were other timers for counting down the mechanics on bosses, because not everyone is watching animations and counting down between abilities. There is a whole world of other addons out there too, which tell you how much gold you have across your characters, where the treasures are in Draenor, where the rares are to be found, and even using co-ords to find things.

You can also have all your bags rolled into one, do funky filtering and pricing on the AH etc etc etc. Are any of these essential? Not really, they are quality of life. If you do just fine with the plain UI and no addons, then thats good too if you make it work, but for others, having addons to help optimize rotations, monitor healing, or watch for who in your group needs cleansing, and knowing when the healing is going to need a huge spike are very nice quality of life improvements. TLDR: If you don't want addons, dont use them;). I don't see how having timers makes people bad raiders. If you know major damage is coming it gives healers time to see it coming and react accordingly, that's the exact opposite of being bad.
If Blizzard didn't want DBM to exist then they wouldn't produce scripted encounters where things occur on timers. They also wouldn't include their own boss warnings for certain mechanics or the entire bosses move set in the dungeon journal. Regardless, even when Blizzard didn't include them these were available on fan sites and in addons. People are going to do what they can to defeat bosses. If you call that being bad then I'm never going to convince you.
Honestly the biggest thing that made DBM needed was 40 man raiding and pick up groups. Back in large raids one person could wipe a raid or make in so much harder.
So for most people rather then trying to control 39 other people and making sure they're all on the same page DBM was made. Raid leaders could say DBM or a similar addon is needed to raid with us. Was DBM needed back then, no.
Is it needed now, no. But neither is a voice chat server, guides, or forums to meet other players. They all grew out of a necessity to make some aspect or raiding easier. I myself try not to use deadly boss mod except for anything but tracking a bosses cooldown and casting in raids. There are two main parts to raiding, Preparation and Execution. Preparation involves knowing priorities in abilities, boss mechanics, class mechanics, and role mechanics.
Execution involves coordinating and executing all of the things you prepare for. DBM covers some bases in both, It allows some players who are good at execution to avoid having to prepare (and therefore spend less time in the game) and allows some players who cannot stay on task a reminder to stay on task. Some players do need this.
The reason blizzard allows it is because what is fun to a lot of players is downing a boss/gear treadmill, the alternative is not having this tool, not downing the boss, and therefore not having as much fun. Yes some like the challenge, but I don't know anyone who raids that doesn't like downing a boss. Having said that, if you are one of those players that is so hardcore you want to run without it, then do so. Nothing is stopping you from making a fight more challenging for yourself, but don't expect that just because you want to run without it, that others will too.
Its not about being bad, its about having fun:) To each their own!

Omega via svn r8185: it's confirmed, battlegrounds do need to use INSTANCECHAT as well - Omega via svn r8184: fix an amber shaper bug - Omega via svn r8183: revert a change, 5.1 did NOT fix the mac 64 bit client bug, not completely anyways, so we can't reliably filter using BossN - Omega via svn r8182: tweak last so it'll still default to RAID or PARTY if are in an instance group but not actually in instance (my guild kills sha or galleon in between queues still in instance group for example. Omega via svn r8181: fix syncing in LFR - Omega via svn r8180: remove debug, it's actually working now - Omega via svn r8179: actually, assume it's still BATTLEGROUND for now until someone reports it broken - Omega via svn r8178: based on diffs, BATTLEGROUND chat type is just gone. So change all references to the replacement 5.1 has which is INSTANCECHAT - Omega via svn r8177: comment out debug for release tag - Omega via svn r8176: ignore unit power events if they aren't from boss1 or boss2 (bossN is now usable again since 5.1 FINALLY fixes the damn bug where boss1-5 was nil in 64 bit mac client) - Omega via svn r8175: Also, bump toc's for 5.1 which is going live in a few hours - Omega via svn r8174: additional tweeks. Fixing the yell timing and adjusting the other timers this should be a lot closer now. Verified up to 12, 13 is just huh? Need to confirm beyond that point.
Omega via svn r8173: some rage tweaks, drycoded til i do more logging later, but it seems 30 is too fast - Omega via svn r8172: fix a bug - Omega via svn r8171: Better, less spammy, option defaults for amber shaper Improved nameplate code. Now it turns normal name plates b ack on when you leave construct so you once again have name plates for OTHER constructs when you aren't one. Still no way to show nameplates for constructs when you ARE one without also showing nameplates for all 9/24 raid members so this is best it can get really. Omega via svn r8170: It'll probably work better with this though. Oops - nbluewiz via svn r8169: # Tsulong: Fix in lfr combat re-starts after killed. Omega via svn r8168: Experimental rage timers based on unverified data. If these timers prove wrong please provide logs that show right ones (note, combat log and transcriptor logs are worthless for rages, it'd pretty much have to be a chat log where you go '/yell zomg more rages' every time they spawn for entirety of 13 min fight to verify this data.
Maybe some good videos help verify too? - Omega via svn r8167: NO MORE SPAM. That is all - Omega via svn r8166: small logic fix to unsok. If constructs were 0 but no interrupts were available, it wasn't doing a special warning. So now handle it diff. It'll just always check interrupts available vs counting contructs at all, then the logic in the warn function will handle whether we interrupt special warning no interrupts or warn interrupts available.
nbluewiz via svn r8165: # Sha of Fear: fix Ominous Cackle CD. nbluewiz via svn r8164: # Garalon: Initial heroic Crush bar support. ebmor via svn r8163: deDE update - ultrashining via svn r8162: zhTW update(Party/ToES) - nbluewiz via svn r8161: # Core: Fix for ToES LFR Tsulong combat detection bug. / Heroic berserk timer. # Protector of Endless: Change Cleansing Waters special warning.
Now only warns your target or focus. (not to warn pet, or not dpsing boss) # koKR update - Omega via svn r8158: comment out some of the debug on unsok, those areas are ruled out. Still need more info from other spots. I need debug from someone who isn't bad at constructs and actually doesn't have amber strike on CD when monstrosity casts amber explosion.: - Omega via svn r8157: Remove debug from zorlok, found the problem. The GUID's do not match. Combat log report a completely different GUID than UnitGUID(uId) returns.
Fortunately on this mod i guess it won't kill us to not filter it. We'll just show unnecessary arrows on heroic mode when the caster isn't the boss on our side. (guess it works out in end for healers anyways, probably wouldn't be targeting the boss). Omega via svn r8156: make both icon options true. Because if it's off by default, it doesn't really work well.
More icon setters the better. Still have to figure out why the elegon one absolutely doesn't work at all (guid mismatch perhaps?). Haven't really tested lei shi yet - Omega via svn r8155: Fix a local bug - nbluewiz via svn r8154: # Core: Improve audio countdown.
Now audio countdown can set 210 counts individually. Still, default is 5.
# Sha of Fear: Set countdown audio to 10 sec. (sometimes 5 sec is not enough) # Lei Shi: Added missing event. Omega via svn r8153: update debug statements to use print instead, since addmsg wasn't showing the args properly Fix a bug on protectors.
Reduce phase 2 spam on tayak by only warning Intensify every 3 stacks. DiabloHu via svn r8152: zhCN update - Omega via svn r8151: fix it even better.
